Programmes

There are six Young Enterprise programmes:

  1. Company Programme
  2. Team Programme
  3. Primary Programme
  4. Project Business
  5. Graduate Programme
  6. Entrepreneurship Masterclass

Company Programme

In the Company Programme, students aged 15-19 set up and run their own company over the course of one academic year.  They elect a board of directors, raise share capital, and market and finance a product or service of their own choice.  At the end of the year they liquidate the company and present a report and accounts.  Company Programme students gain experience of the real world: taking responsibility and being accountable to their shareholders for the running of the business.

Team Programme

Team Programme is specifically designed for young people aged 15-19+ who experience difficulties with learning and/or have disabilities.  It offers these young people practical experience of running their own company, supported by their teacher and volunteer business advisers.  Team Programme is a unique opportunity for students with a range of learning support requirements to share and succeed in an activity which allows them to take responsibility for the management, production sales, marketing and financial roles of running a real company.

Primary Programme

The Primary Programme consists of six modules, each of which is a fun and interactive e series of lessons presented by a business volunteer in school to a whole class.  Each of the six modules is for a different year group of children from four to eleven years old.  The volunteers engage the children by sharing their work experiences through a structured programme of learning.  A variety of hands-on activities enable children to better understand the relevance of their education to the workplace through the six module themes: Ourselves, Our Families, Our Community, Our City, Our Nation, and Our World.

Project Business

The Project Business programme is run over six one-hour weekly sessions which are presented in-curriculum by a volunteer business partner and supported by a teacher partner.  It can also be presented as a flexible model e.g. 2-day or 1-week seminars in 5-6 sessions.  Project Business is designed to give students a practical, activity based insight into economic and business life.  The sessions give practical introductions to a wide range of subjects - from outlining how a market economy operates to discussing the role of advertising.  Also included in  the programme is a business/works visit hosted by the volunteer Business Partner.

Entrepreneurship Masterclass

The Entrepreneurship Masterclass is a seminar designed mainly for students who have already experienced the highs and lows of running their own company in Young Enterprise's Company Programme.  The Masterclasses are designed to encourage students to think about starting their own business as a career option and identify the key entrepreneurial skills required in starting their own business.  They also help students to understand the main issues and practicalities of starting their own business - for example: who to approach concerning financial matters, who to approach for help and advice.
