The HSBC Young Enterprise Innovation Awards 2008 - 2009

The HSBC Young Enterprise Innovation Awards are the annual celebration of the achievements of the students and their companies.  It is a tremendous achievement for each group of students who complete their Young Enterprise year and proudly present the results of their company and their learning.

The the competition process, YE companies appear before independent judges.  The competition is not simply a business competition for young people.  It attempts to balance the view of the business achievements of each team as a whole with the individual's personal development.

To win an award it is not sufficient just to run a financially successful company or to have created an exiting product.  Company members must also demonstrate that they understand how and why the company performed as it did.

Judges will look for evidence of innovation, the successful exploitation of new ideas in all aspects of the running of the company and an understanding that continuous improvement through innovation is essential to the success of a business.

The criteria will include communications, team work, skills and understanding, problem solving, personnel management, administration and financial systems and other equally important points.

The three stages of the competition are:

  1. Company Report
  2. Trade stand and interview
  3. A presentation

Each company will be judges at area, county, regional and national level.  The national winners will represent Young Enterprise in the European Finals.
